Have you read the Harry Potter books in English? I've read all 6 in French and 3 of them in English: Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban and Half-Blood Prince. What about you?

I've read The Goblet of Fire and The Half-Blood Prince in English because I couldn't wait for the French version to be published !

Neither could I wait for the French version of Half-Blood Prince... People sound really astonished when I say I've read a 700-page book all in English...

They're quite difficult, that's serious literature despite what most of people seem to think !

Yes, when I was reading the books I always had my "Harrap's Shorter" with me... I enjoyed these books, there are lots of adjectives and words you don't learn at school! And I find really interesting reading the same chapter in English and in French to analyze the translation...

I think the french translator made a real great job on names and things like that. Dementors as Détraqueurs, for instance, is really fun !

I've read none of those in english ! I'm really too lazy to start such a great enterprise (not sure it's the good word ) ! Anyway maybe I'll do it one day... when I'll be so sad to agree considering all this magical story is definitly ended !

I agree with Miss Teigne: Ménard really achieved a great translation. The Spanish translation, for instance, never translates words such as Ravenclaw (Serdaigle in French, but "Ravenclaw" in Spanish...) or Dementors... The translator kept all the English word, which is bad.

Well, translation can be a bad thing too. Il you look for instance at the R.A.B enigma, it might be ruined by the Dutch translation where Black is Swartz and R.A.B becomes RAZ I can only hope that's just a trick !

Yes. Even if i've not read the english version, I know some of the names (of characters especially) and I've really been impressed by the translations work.

Of course it means Angelique ! Don't you now she's a female zorro ? She's the one who the goverment calls when there's no more hope ! The one who may, by a movement of her wonderfull hairs... hem... maybe she reads english no ?
